Program a taxi apps in your phone so you can always reach someone for a safe ride home. This is especially important if you don’t know anyone in the area and can’t call a friend or family member for help. Make sure you have extra money on hand to pay for a ride back to your hotel.
2) Make sure your car is ready for the Florida heat.
Whether you’re driving a rental or your own vehicle, make sure it has enough coolant and is in good enough shape to handle extreme heat. Make sure the windshields are clear and allow you to see even with the sun’s glare. Check that the tires are in good shape to get you to destinations safely.
3) Keep in mind driving in Florida may be different than driving in your home state.
If you’ll be driving in Miami when you’re used to driving in a smaller town in the Midwest, for example, the experience will be very different. Make sure you know what to expect and give yourself lots of time to get your destination. If you’re worried about your ability to drive safely southern Florida, consider hiring a driver. This way, you can focus on enjoying your tourism experience without having to worry about car accidents.
